CASHLESS RFID FAQ

Cashless wristbands for Bluesapalooza Bars and Merchandise Tent

An RFID wristband is a cloth festival wristband, just like we have issued in past, that includes a RFID chip. You will link your chip to your credit card for easy purchases at the Bluesapalooza Bars and the Bluesapalooza Merchandise tent. With the use of a PIN, in conjunction with your RFID wristband, your transactions become much quicker and easier.
Many festivals are moving to RFID technology to speed up transactions. Bluesapalooza is always looking for ways to better our attendees’ experience and manage our costs—which help keep ticket prices down. RFID systems allow for faster service and shorter lines.

You can activate wristbands at either festival bar and at two “Activation Station” tents at the festival. MAPS

Station One is located outside the main gate next to the Info Booth, and features 15 terminals where attendees can activate their wristbands prior to festival opening each day (credit and debit cards only). Station One Hours: Thursday, 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm; Friday, 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am to 8:00 pm; and Sunday, 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. SCHEDULE PAGE

Station Two is located right inside the main gate, next to the Bluesapalooza Merchandise tent, and features both credit card and cash terminals.

Festival bars, North and South, will each feature 2 terminals (credit and debit cards only).

Simply place your wristband on the reader and follow the on-screen instructions. Linking your bank card to your RFID wristband takes less than 20 seconds. Please note: All food and retail vendors accept cash and credit cards at their locations, not cashless RFID payments. Only the festival bars and festival merchandise tent require the RFID wristband as “cashless” payment method.

It’s easy. Payments are made by entering your PIN and touching your wristband on the reader at the point-of-sale monitors located at each bar. There are 8 monitors at the festival’s North Bar and South Bar. With “cashless,” transaction times average 12 seconds or less, resulting in shorter lines and waiting time.

If paying by credit card, as long as money is available in the bank account you connected to your RFID wristband, you will not run out of credit. If paying by cash, your RFID wristband will run out of “credit” once you spend it. To add more “credit” to your wristband, return to the cash activation Station Two and buy more “credit”.

Cash RFID accounts with leftover/unused money are allowed a full refund at Station Two (next to the Bluesapalooza Merchandise tent) during event hours (applicable to your specific ticket type) with refunds ending ½ hour after the festival ends each night. For example, if you have a Friday Night Rock ’n’ Blues ticket, you can receive a refund up until midnight on Friday, August 3rd. After this cut-off, cash refunds will no longer be available to you. All unclaimed cash left on RFID accounts will be donated to local non-profits who help run our festival. SCHEDULE PAGE

No, Cash RFID account refunds need to be given out within 30 minutes of the music ending on the day your wristband is good for.

Only one bank card can be linked to each RFID wristband at a time, but multiple wristbands can be linked to the same bank card. (For example; a husband and wife can link their separate wristbands to one bank card.)

To change the bank card linked to your wristband, return to either Station One or Station Two and link a new bank card to your existing wristband.

No, this system does not allow an order to be split between two separate RFID wristbands/people.

Your leftover balance of credit will be displayed after every transaction. You also can check your balance at any of the Activation Stations.

Credit card information is not stored on the wristband. Replacement wristbands are issued (at the discretion of the event producer’s policies) through the Attendee Check-in Tent where the wristband was originally issued. A new wristband will need to be activated.

Tipping is the same as you would see with any point-of-sale system; after you see your total, the system will allow you to choose an amount to tip. All of the Bluesapalooza bars are staffed by local non-profit groups and 100% of your tip goes to these groups, so all tips go to a great cause.
